The decision to move to a retirement village is a major one. Apart from the financial commitment, you want to be sure that it’s going to be the right decision for you. There are certainly many advantages, which is why we encourage you to visit our village, talk to some of our residents/staff and ask as many questions as you like.
When should I move into a retirement village?
Retirement is naturally a good time to consider a change of lifestyle, as you’ll most likely have more time and freedom than you’ve had in a long while. However, some of our residents are still part of the workforce. If you are aged over 55, you are eligible to become part of the Bougainvillea family. Many of our residents comment that they wish they had made the move earlier.
Bougainvillea is situated in the heart of Neutral Bay. The location a major attraction for many of our residents. With the convenience of public transport close at hand, as well as supermarkets, medical centers, podiatrist, Woolworth’s shopping, restaurants etc, Bougainvillea becomes an easy lifestyle choice.
Choosing your home
Apartments at Bougainvillea come in a range of sizes (various floor plans within our 138 apartments) and locations within the village with one and two bedroom floor plans. Some apartments have garden views, some pool views and others have street views, for those of us who like to absorb the activity of Neutral Bay.
The best place to start is to compare what’s on offer with your current home and ask yourself whether you would like to downsize. Initially, a lot of people don’t like the thought of living in a smaller space; however, a smaller home offers a lot of benefits, such as reduced housework, general chores and maintenance. The added bonus is great company to share your time with.
Your budget or price range will also determine which type of apartment you might like to view. You will also need to decide whether you would like a serviced apartment or an independent living apartment.
